Storywallah is a collection of fourteen short stories written by Kumar Ganesan.
The word ‘storywallah’, means a storyteller. This is the name Kumar was given in his childhood days as he used to tell stories on the spot. All the stories are from Kumar’s personal life. Some stories are emotional, some are funny and some make readers introspect. Everyone has a story to tell but it is not easy to come forward and write them in an interesting manner.
All the stories have at least one pencil sketch related to the story which enhances the reading and helps in the better imagination about the story. About this book, I will say do not judge the book by its cover. The cover is very simple compared to the illustrations within the book. It does not reveal anything about the content of the book.
The language is pretty simple but at times over presence of Tamil distracts the reader from understanding the story. It would have been better if the author had translated those sentences in English for readers to understand.
Only one thing is annoying about the book is spelling mistakes, typos and grammatical errors at few places. These mistakes simply carry readers focus away from reading. These mistakes can be easily rectified in the next edition of the book. I am looking forward to more stories from this ‘Storywallah’. A book based on his stay in Dubai would be interesting to read.
Thank you ‘ Half Baked Beans’ for giving me an opportunity to read and review this book. Thank you for introducing such wonderful Indian authors to book lovers.
